HI TO ALL FROM BALI !! -AT LEAST THAT'S WHERE I STARTED!!
Hopefully I’ll make good use of all this relaxation and leisure time to update you on all our comings and goings,- if I manage to stay awake after/between pool, massage and eating!
Firstly, Anne has made an excellent recovery from her knee replacements and continues to improve in strength and balance! Thanks again to all of you who helped, rang, sent enquiries
and well-wishes. Much appreciated !! It will probably take about a year for full recovery, but she’s already doing WAY better than before !!
Very shortly after the surgery, Kyree and Bens wedding was not to be missed ! After all, they had given us the date over a year in advance, so we’d have no excuse. Although Anne wasn’t dancing any jigs yet, we managed to make it to the ceremony and part of the reception, both of which were truly beautiful.![]()
By then we were into summer and fast approaching the Festive season. We had a lovely day with Meg, Clint, Katie and David and their littlies,to kick off the season. We had our own Christmas morning, then a scrumptious and sometimes hilarious Christmas dinner at June and Ians with our great group of neighbour-friends ! On Boxing Day we packed up food and pressies and moved to Pt
Peron for a family Christmas, then stayed on at Pt Peron for most of the holiday week ! We came home in time to host a neighbourhood get-together just to wrap up the holiday season. We are so lucky to live in such a congenial friendly area and to enjo
y all the neighbours so much

During Jan. through March, we finally got the chance to get stuck into painting the outside of the beachhouse, carrying on the transformation that Nick and the family had started. It’s coming up well, but for some reason we don’t have any pictures of the back garden,- just the carport. Anne/our photographer par excellence, has slipped up! If we get home before I post this I’ll try to get some. If not I’ll put in the next blog.![]()
This is birthday season, with our own birthdays, kids, friends, grandkids all getting into the act! Happy Birthday To Us All !! Hip Hip Hooray !! I had a special one- with a zero on it !! Anne and Paul organized a birthday brunch so neighbours and friends could fuss over me as they had over
Anne earlier. For further celebrations see more below. ![]()

Along the way we had a chance to catch up with most of our Peron friends as well,- thanks Ev and Gordon, spend some time at home (for a change), catch up with more family and friends, and make a start on some major changes to the front garden at Yunderup–(more later when we’re clearer on what we’re actually doing). We had overseas visitors, both ours and Carolines, and were generally in ‘show-off m
ode’ a good deal of the time! ![]()
And the big birthday event was that Wayne (and I) turned 70 !!`Who’d-a-thunk?! Of course he’s older than I am (by several`days), but we won’t remind him of that. Dorothy and all her fellow schemers pulled it off and surprised him thoroughly! We had a lovely evening, and as you can see, Anne is now dancing –if not quite a jig yet- enough to enjoy. Wayne got the biggest cake, after all it was his party; but Dot surprised me with a birthday cake too. Thanks Dot! And, as far as I know, I got the biggest pressie; this trip to Bali !!
So now we’re writing you from the Land of the Gods! In recent years we’ve settled in one or two areas we like and have basically just vegged (and shopped). This year we thought we’d explore a bit more, some places we’d never been and others that have changed so much since we first saw them. So we booked into 4 different areas and took day trips out from them. It’s been interesting, but just confirmed these two areas are our preference,- Ubud and Sanur.
We’ve been trying to look with a broader perspective on what we would like to do/where we would like to ‘winter’ next, when the houseboat in Canada adventure draws to an end,- probably this year, definitely next. So watch this space!! This year we leave for Canada May 15th. not long now !
Bye for now, and all our very best to all.
Stay well and happy
THE HAPPY WANDERERS
Anne and Kathie
p.s. We've been home from Bali for two weeks now;- What holiday?? Have been doing up a rental house as well as getting ready to go, so sorting out the technicalities of publishing this went to the bottom of the list. Wish me luck!?
